How I turned scattered notebook records into one system: a guardian portal that answers "how is my child doing?" at a glance, a staff panel behind it, and an Android app built from the same codebase.

The Problem

Student activity at the pesantren was recorded across several notebooks and files. Staff could not report quickly, and guardians had no way to check attendance, progress, or dues without asking.

The Approach

  • Mapped the guardian's questions first and let them drive the home screen, instead of mirroring the staff's internal records.
  • Built a single Laravel web application that works on phones and desktops, with a light theme and a larger-text option for easier reading.
  • Wrapped the same application in an Android WebView app so it can be distributed through Google Play without maintaining a second codebase.
  • Added push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging so guardians are told when something changes.
  • Kept a direct WhatsApp shortcut to the student's mentor and a notes channel to the pesantren, because guardians already communicate that way.

The Result

4
record areas in one system: attendance, progress, savings, dues

I built SISTER end to end for the Bumi Santri Ar-Rumi foundation, delivered through Triglobs. This page covers how it was designed; the client-facing summary is on the Triglobs project page.

The design started from the questions a guardian actually asks: is my child attending, how is memorization progressing, and are dues and savings in order? The guardian home screen answers those four things at a glance (30-day attendance, progress, outstanding dues, savings balance) and links to the detail behind each. Behind it, a staff panel manages attendance, learning progress, and finance in one place.
